The Big Dig

Well, work has finally started on converting the entire basement level into a more livable and workable space. What started out as a simple exercise in ‘re-designing’ the back room to accommodate dogs (that we don’t have yet) has turned into a major renovation project of ground breaking proportions!
This, of course, has benefited Chilli Inc Studios in almost every aspect!
Employing the services of Paul Gillieron Acoustic Design (http://www.pgacoustics.org) to design the main studio, Tim Scott (acoustic engineer) had a blank canvas to work with since we were completely demolishing and rebuilding the basement. With the spec of building a pro-level recording facility, Tim set out to design a ‘floating room’ studio with additional acoustic treatments for mixing.
The studio now also has a dedicated power supply (isolated from the main house) so that all electrical recording equipment will have a clean electrical supply to eliminate any pops and clicks from problem appliances and eliminates any potential ground loop problems!
Work for this studio is set to be completed by July 2010. A big party will surely follow
